Initial shader compilation only takes about 25-30 seconds and the the game loads solid 22-30 fps. If I attempt to load the game through gaming mode the initial shader compilation takes roughly 4 times longer at about 2-3 ...

Usually when it gets stuck on exiting just press the steam button and scroll away from the game and then come back and you be able to hit exit game again and it will force shut the game.
