I ended up having to do a factory reset of the internet since the factory reset wasn't working. Turns out, resetting the internet (black button 3x) and then doing a factory reset (yellow button 3x) worked. The factory reset doesn't remove the main owner from the serial number but resetting the internet followed by resetting the system will.
