After crossing the 80-degree mark, surface water temperatures receded this week. Water temperatures are now registering in the 70 to 72 degree range, and the combination of moderating air and surface water temperatures, along with a stabilized weather pattern helped make this week a good one for fishing on Lake Winnie.

Jigs and minnows, rigs with leeches and worms have been the most productive presentation. Fishing with the jigs and minnows increases the chances of catching pike and perch.

Most of the fish are caught trolling on the flats from 8-14 feet of water. All of the favorite trolling lures are working. Perch fishing has been better this past week than at any time this year.
