I thought Rykard was a piece of shit, but after understanding how to get away from the "unfair" attacks, he became my favourite boss (so far) Track his head, do insane damage and staggers him. Kill him before he summons all the skulls. So you say the skulls kill you. You just run during that attack.

If you can’t kill him by the fire skulls, you just have to runaway until they’re gone.
