1. This is not a complete answer but I'm marking this as solved anyway. It has nothing to do with Apollo Client or node-fetch, I was testing this in Chrome (MacOS to be specific) and it's rejecting the self-signed certificate. I'm just continuing my development with Firefox for now as it will accept the certificate.
The latest version of Apollo is a month old. Nothing has changed in Apollo in the last 48 hours to suddenly cause this. Something has been changed either on Reddit or the hosting sites. Probably without sufficient warning for the developer to implement a fix.

Imgur has begun deleting all media not uploaded with an official account. Between that and Reddit killing 3rd party apps, it's really feeling like the end of an era. What I’ve noticed is if I “peek and pop” the Imgur link, the content displays. If I just scroll the feed you get the broken link.

I've diagnosed the issue, it seems to do this because imgur is redirecting to imgur.io so Apollo doesn't recognize the link, but it can recognize the image file causing a false positive. Reply.
