The problem is that the Comcast gateways will only learn one MAC address when they are in bridge mode. If you switch from an old router to a new router, you need to power cycle the modem to clear the MAC table. You'd only need to clone the old router's MAC if you didn't want to power cycle the modem for some reason.

You have to plug it into the bottom right port with the orange line next to it. Make sure to get your router plugged in and set up before putting it into bridge mode as well. Makes everything significantly easier. On an XB7 its is a 2.5Gbps port, not a standard 1Gbps port. It is also the dedicated WAN/LAN port.
