If it was running fine and then wouldn't start after shutting down and the engine is still warm/hot, it's likely a high pressure oil leak not allowing the injection control pressure to achieve the required 500 psi for the injectors to release fuel. Hello, I have a 2005 f150 5.4l 3v. Truck cranks but wont start. I checked fuel pressure with key on engine off, and its about 36-40 psi. It seems to be flooding itself. I pulled all the spark plugs and cleaned them. Cranked the truck fired right up ran for 3-5 seconds and then died, wont re start. Smell like raw fuel when cranking it.Replaced the relay, been good ever since. About $12 at Advance Auto. When you test for pump performance you need to do a key on several times to see how far the pressure builds. It should build to about 35 psi +/-. The gauge should read 40psi. You can rent a fuel pressure gauge from most auto part stores and get your money back when you return it.

The way to determine if it's fuel or spark is to see if it will start with ether or gas sprayed into the throttle body or air box. If it starts then it's fuel, if not then it's spark and I would suspect the distributor first. But this is just my experience.
