Just forward of the fuel tank, the line makes several sharp bends and also changes from rubber to metal line. 9 times out of 10, the leak is at this point. It's a much easier fix. you just undo the line, cut off the bad part by the end and re-attach.

The return line helps bleed off the vapor and return it to the tank, and also allows more fuel to keep passing through the fuel lines to keep cooler fuel present. If it were mine, i would run new line from the front to the rear for both the supply and the return lines.
