My sons pool was eating chlorine, so did a OCLT and from 8ppm at sundown dropped to 2ppm at sunrise. He started a slam and with a 70 cya set a 28ppm chlorine level and has been able to maintain that level with a lot of chlorine additions. After being away for a couple days, I returned home to see a slight green in my water. Checked the FC and it was around 1. Not sure what happened while I was away. Higher CYA means your FC (free chlorine) needs to be higher.
