Feb 5, 2024 · Saddleback has 600 when they're wide open, which they tend to be most of the season. Sugarloaf is currently just under 900. So that should provide some perspective. I ski both fairly regularly, and the flow of the mountain and the way they ski are different. In addition to less skiers, this benefits SB's lifelines.

The last time that happened, Sugarloaf got over 200 inches of snow. In a Modoki El Niño, the warm water is further west than in a classic El Niño, thus altering the jet stream and bringing cold air down from Canada.
