If you are outside during the helicopter event, the sound it produces will be pinpointed at you. So zombies will chase you specifically like it's personal for them. If you stay indoors whole the chopper is overhead - thd zombies will be pulled into your general area, but not to your specific location. So you can just sit it out.

Edit: Third day of these bombing raids, they seem to pull mass numbers of zombies to an area then a helicopter appears and kites them around it seems. Ran around the area for a whole in game day and found nothing but fields of zombies chasing this helicopter around. Starting to wonder how many days in a row this will happen for.
