Each piece of the set has 3 separate pieces. So there's the base ephemera, then two upgraded ephemeras etc. So if you were to upgrade the arms, when you equip the arms it would be the second version of them, and when you buy and equip legs, you'll only have that first version and it's challenge. If that makes sense.
