The initial brackets also compete for best shield infantry, 2-handed infantry, and spear infantry. I never knew how trash some units were, while a couple did surprise me.

The subreddit for all things dedicated to Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. Just my opinion as I mostly join Sturgia in my playthrough. The fact that there isn't a tier 6 infantry unit makes me sad. I love infantry and will muck it in side by side with the boys. Sturgia would benefit greatly from some tier 6 infantry.

In terms of general archers obviously Battannian Fians are the best by far. The Aserai Master Archers are the best non-noble archer unit, followed by Imperial Palantine guards, mainly due to the fact they only have 1 quiver of arrows while the Aserai has 2. I like Sturgian Horse raiders and Druhizinik as anti-cav cavalry.
