I test this weekend and wanted to get in some last minute CARS practice but Jack Westin just seems so off base from AAMC that I'm wondering if it's even worth it. Not at all lmao, I personally thought JW questions were terrible. I used to get like 30-35 / 53 on his practice exams but scored 130 on the actual exam.There are no real "hard" or "easy" questions. Personally thought Jack Westin exams + daily passages were great passages that keep you sharp but really not representative at all of AAMC scorewise. I never broke above 40/53 on his exams but always scored 128+ on the practice exams, so don't be discouraged if you get slapped with a 35 or something.Use JW to build endurance, move to UWorld for volume, finish up with AAMC cars diagnostic and Q packs closer to test date. Foolproof method. Just do as many as you possibly can. Use it to build endurance. UWorld is harder than AAMC. If you are missing 0-1 on JW, you should be good. Their CARS passages are valuable, but not a perfect representation of the real thing - as other commenters have stated, the gold standard (and imo the most useful preparatory material) is the CARS diagnostic tool through the AAMC. I thought JW was harder than AAMC, but the MCAT is created by AAMC not JW, so it doesn't matter how difficult any 3rd party source is because they are not the ones testing you. I’m scoring better on AAMC CARS volume 1 (the Q-Pack) than I did on jack Westin! I would say they are close.
