Once you take the take down screw out of the bottom of the foreend, the entire barrel assembly, bolt, magazine housing, forend and all should just pull straight forward out of the receiver in one unit. The rear of the forend needs to drop a little to clear the bushing when you pull it forward.

I don't think the bolt style changed a bit over the production run of the model 552. Remington and Numrich list only one part number for the bolt and another part number for the bolt assembly which is just the same bolt with the extractor and associated parts installed. Then in a slight squat position, spread your knees. Lot of strengththere. Barrel should then separate from the receiver w/o any problem.
