The 42 will never go away. Glock still lists their GAP pistol even though that caliber is almost all but a memory. The Shield has been an extremely popular carry gun from the start and continues to be one. The G42 is for people that are recoil sensitive or for someone who just has to have a smaller Glock than the G26.

Compared to the LCPII, the G42 offers a superior sight picture with the option to upgrade to better sights.
