I'm assuming that you are talking about the 3.6L JL. For reference ESS battery=aux battery=supplemental battery; they're all one and the same. Some people have suggested--and I think them purists--that because the 2 batteries are of different types that it's best to charge them separately. But I don't think your rig does, so why should you?

This allows one battery to steal power from the other, where the ESS/Aux battery is usually the thief. Here again--this may just be a need for a simple main battery swap.

Just do the 12v one you can see. After completing the part swap reconnect the battery and if the CEL is still there, clear it with the programmer of your choice. If they are asking people to mess with that big battery there is some serious concerns they should be considering. Playing with a 12v battery is one thing and still requires caution.
