Posts: 1,161. Marlin 795 Review. Much has been said of late about this rifle, due to its low Mosin-like price. In the Great Recession, its good to be able to find cheap guns where possible. I bought my 795 back in 2010, and it has a 2009 s/n. I had heard about the problems with crooked scope rails, but mine was straight as an arrow.

Actually Marlin recommends that you use high velocity ammo in the 795 anyway so you'll likely have better results if you pick something in the 1200-1400 fps range. Do not use "Hyper Velocity" such as CCI Stingers; they will cause premature failure of the buffer and can actually damage the receiver itself. Team 60 #178. I think the trigger group is a little flimsy, but, that being said, I've only had one easily fixable problem.
